At the Center of the World,
There's a Statue of a Girl

Today has been a day.

Plans have a way of not working out, sometimes.  I guess all there is to do is make new ones.

Mean Old Levee; Taught Me How to Weep and Moan

A friend of mine from SCAD, Pranas Naujokaitis, just got screwed over real bad:

Inkdick (c) Pranas Naujokaitis

You can read all about it (as well as all of the other parts of his usually (slightly) less depressing life) in his daily webcomic, "Inkdick" at www.ghostcarpress.com/inkdick. He's taking commissions for drawings to try and make up the cost of the stolen iMac, so consider getting an autographed piece on the cheap from an up-and-coming cartoonist before he starts charging 100 bucks a pop for them!

And whether or not you're interested in that, there is absolutely NO reason that you shouldn't a) have Inkdick bookmarked and b) be reading it every day. It's one of my favorite webcomics, (and this is coming from a guy who normally can't stand journal comics).

Here is the comic strip and blog entry in question.

But the Sanitation Workers Really Didn't Approve

I loved doing this! I'm really starting to think that children's books are something I'm very interested in. Football heads, four-fingered hands, bulbous shoes, rich colors... what's not to love?

I think the best part about this project was finally coming to grips with using digital textures in a semi-effective way. I'm going to try to start doing a lot more of that in the future.
